Frequently asked questions
Getting started
What is DemoForge?+
DemoForge is a tool for building interactive, annotated product demos and guided tutorials. You capture the screens of your own software, add explanatory hotspots, and publish a self-serve walkthrough your customers can explore on their own.
Do I need to install anything to get started?+
No. You can sign up and start building right away by uploading screenshots. The optional browser capture plugin (which pulls screens straight from your running app) is available on the Professional plan.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes — every new workspace starts with a 14-day free trial that unlocks the full set of Professional features so you can evaluate everything before choosing a plan.
Do I need a credit card to start the trial?+
No. The 14-day trial requires no payment details up front.
What happens when my trial ends?+
After the trial you choose a plan to keep full access. There's a short grace period during which your workspace keeps Standard-level access; if no plan is selected, the workspace becomes read-only and published demos are paused until you pick a plan.
Is there a free-forever plan?+
No. DemoForge offers a 14-day free trial and two paid plans (Standard and Professional), but no permanently free tier.
Capturing & authoring
How do I get my app's screens into DemoForge?+
Two ways: upload screenshots manually on any plan, or use the browser capture plugin on the Professional plan to grab screens directly from your running application — no manual screenshots needed.
What is a hotspot?+
A hotspot is a clickable annotation you place on a screen. It highlights an element and shows a short explanation, guiding viewers through what each part of your product does.
Can Claude suggest hotspots for me?+
Yes. The "Suggest with Claude" feature analyzes a screen and proposes hotspots automatically. You can accept, edit, or dismiss each suggestion. AI suggestions count toward your weekly AI request limit.
Can Claude write the explanations for me?+
Yes. "Draft with Claude" generates explanation copy for a hotspot, which you can then refine. Drafting is a Professional-plan feature.
What are guided workflows?+
Workflows let you chain screens into an ordered, multi-step path so viewers follow a specific task from start to finish rather than browsing screens at random.
Does DemoForge keep a history of my edits?+
Yes. Screens keep an edit history, so you can see how a screen changed over time and restore any previous version. Screen edit history is a Professional-plan feature.
Can I reuse elements across screens?+
Yes. You can build a library of reusable components and drop them onto multiple screens, keeping demos consistent.
Can I add background music to a demo?+
Yes. You can assign a background music track to a product area, and it plays automatically while viewers explore that part of the demo.
AI features
Which AI model powers DemoForge?+
DemoForge uses Claude, Anthropic's AI model, for hotspot suggestions, draft explanations, translations, and quiz generation.
How many AI requests can I make?+
AI usage is capped per week per workspace: 100 Claude requests/week on Standard and 250/week on Professional. Each suggestion, draft, translation, or quiz generation counts as a request.
Can I translate my demos into other languages?+
Yes. On-demand translation lets you publish a demo in up to eight languages, with translations generated by Claude. Translation is included on every plan.
Can I add quizzes to a demo?+
Yes. You can add per-area knowledge-check quizzes, with questions Claude can draft from your screens. Quizzes are included on every plan.
Can I add voice-over narration?+
Yes. DemoForge can generate natural text-to-speech narration for your hotspots so viewers can listen as the tour plays. Voice-over is included on every plan.
Can I record a presenter video?+
Yes. You can attach a recorded presenter video to a hotspot. Recorded presenter video is a Professional-plan feature.
Publishing & sharing
How do I share a finished demo?+
Publish the demo and share its link. Anyone with the link can open a public demo in their browser — no account or download required.
Can I password-protect a demo?+
Yes. You can mark a product as private and protect it with a password, so only people you share the password with can view it.
Can I embed a demo in Notion, Confluence, or my website?+
Yes. Demos can be embedded via an iframe, so they sit inline in tools like Notion and Confluence or anywhere on your own site.
Can I export a demo to PDF or PowerPoint?+
Yes. You can export a demo to PDF and to PowerPoint (PPTX) for offline sharing or use in presentations.
Do I get analytics on who views my demos?+
Yes. DemoForge collects anonymous viewing analytics (such as view counts) so you can see engagement without tracking individual viewers. Viewing analytics is a Professional-plan feature.
Is my company branding shown on public demos?+
Yes. Each workspace gets a branded demo portal, and you can configure branding so published demos reflect your company.
Can people search within my demos?+
Yes. Each demo portal has full-text search so viewers can find the right product or screen by keyword. As an author, you also get a separate search across your own drafts and private content.
Plans, team & billing
What's the difference between Standard and Professional?+
Standard (€29/user/mo) covers core authoring and publishing — including hotspots, guided workflows, translations, quizzes, and voice-over — with up to 10 products and 100 Claude requests/week. Professional (€39/user/mo) adds unlimited products, 250 Claude requests/week, the auto-capture plugin, Claude drafting, screen edit history, anonymous viewing analytics, and recorded presenter video. See the pricing page for a full feature comparison.
How much does it cost to add a teammate?+
Pricing is per user, per month — every teammate is billed at your plan's rate: €29/month each on Standard and €39/month each on Professional. Adding a teammate simply adds one seat at that rate.
What can each role do — viewer, editor, publisher?+
Viewers can open and view the workspace's demos but can't change anything. Editors can additionally create and edit products, screens, hotspots, and translations. Publishers have full access, including publishing demos and managing members, roles, and billing.
How do I change or cancel my plan?+
Workspace publishers manage the plan from Settings → Subscription, where you can upgrade, switch, or cancel with self-serve card billing. A billing portal lets you update your payment details and view past invoices.
Privacy & security
Where is my data stored?+
DemoForge is operated from Finland (EU) and processes personal data in line with the GDPR. See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for the full details.
Is my content used to train AI models?+
We don't sell your data or use it for advertising. AI features send only the content needed (such as a screenshot and the text you're editing) to our AI providers to generate the output you requested.
How do I sign in? Is Google sign-in supported?+
You can sign in with an email and password or with "Sign in with Google." Both create the same kind of account.
How do I delete my account or my data?+
You can request deletion at any time; see the Privacy Policy for how to exercise your data rights. When you delete content or close your account, we delete or anonymize the associated personal data within a reasonable period.
